Origami Pentagon Rose (Naomiki Sato) 折り紙バラ

Origami Pentagon Rose (Naomiki Sato) 折り紙バラ

Hello there everybody! I am Tadashi Mori and in this video here I'll show you how to make this origami Pentagon Rose by Naomiki Sato.

It's an intermediate level origami so, you should use a thick and good quality paper.

For example, a Color Plus, Color Set, Washi paper or a Vivaldi paper.

The paper should also have color on both sides and about 90 to 120 grams per square meter.

So, let's start! To do this origami it's recommended for you to use a paper with color on both sides.

But, for this tutorial I use here a paper with color only on one side.

We will start with a square with 30 cm or 12 in.

And start by folding the square in half.

Now, fold this point up to this point but, you're just going to pinch here the middle.

Now, unfold and you're going to fold this side of the paper upward.

And you're just going to pinch here the middle, again.

Unfold.

Fold the top part downward and again just pinch here the middle.

Now, you have this cross here.

Now, fold this point up to the middle of this cross.

Fold the paper strongly.

Now, fold here this side of the paper up to this line.

Now, you're going to make here a mountain fold along this line here.

Now, turn the model over and make here this line go up to this line here.

The paper will look like this.

And you're going to make a cut along this line.

And the model will look like this.

Now, you're going to open here this last flap.

Like this.

Turn the model over.

Open here.

The inside should look like this.

And fold the other layers like this.

So, the model should look like this.

Now, fold here making this point go up to the middle line.

Now, unfold and fold this line here up to the middle line.

And unfold the paper.

And you're going to do the same thing on all the other layers.

And the model will look like this.

Now, hold the model making only one layer be on the left side.

And all the other layers, on the rightside Now, you're going to fold here one layer.

Like this.

And fold the other side trying to fold 1/3 of this distance here.

And at this point you're going to fold only up to this line here.

Fold strongly and unfold.

If you prefer, you can fold here really lightly, just to help the next folds, but it's notreally necessary.

Now, you're going to do the same thing with the next layer.

Fold one layer and do the same thing here.

And keep doing this to all the layers.

The model will look like this.

Now, you're going to open everything.

The lines you have on your paper shouldlook like this.

Now, make a fold making this line here go up to this line here.

And you're going to fold up to this line here.

Now, do the same thing on all the othersides.

Now, the model will look like this.

Fold here along this line making a valley fold.

And here you have 3 lines really close to each other.

And you're going to make a mountain fold along the middle line.

So, as you can see here make a mountain fold along this middle line.

You're going to make a fold here aligning this other side.

Don't press here.

Just fold this side of the paper, this side here.

Now, unfold it a little bit.

And you're going to make a valley fold coming from this point here up to this line here.

So, you had something like this, right? Now, you're going to unfold.

And make a fold up to this point here.

Now, you're going to fold here, this side and squash the model here on the other side.

Carefully, squash the model.

And that's it.

Now, on the next fold you need to find 1/3 of this gap here and make a fold from this point up to this point here.

You should have something like this.

So, we're going to make a fold from the corner of the paper up to 1/3 of this gap.

Now, fold here up to this line.

And squash the model.

The model will look like this.

Now, turn the model over and you can see here that we have 2 lines.

So, you're going to make a valley fold along this second line.

So, it's going to look like this.

Now, make a mountain fold from this point up to this point here.

And the model will look like this.

Now, unfold.

And your fold should look like this.

So, you're going to open here a littlebit.

And you're going to make a mountain fold along this and this line here.

And a valley fold along this and this line here.

So, to do this you're going to press this point and make here the folds.

The model will look like this.

Now, hold here and press this point making here a curve.

at this part here.

Fold strongly and unfold everything.

Now, turn the model over And the lines should look like this right now.

You're going to do the same thing here.

So, let me show you one more time.

Make the valley fold.

Fold here along the middle line.

Unfold.

Fold the inner part up to this line.

Squash the model.

Fold up to 1/3 of this gap, and complete the fold here.

Now, turn the model over.

Make a valley fold along this second line.

A mountain fold here.

Unfold.

Open the model a little bit.

Press the middle part.

And press here making a curve.

Right? Now, unfold everything again.

Turn the model over and do the same thing here on the other 3 sides.

And after you finish, the model will look like this.

Now, you're going to fold here again along the big lines making the model look like this.

Now, you're going to carefully hold here the bottom part and twist here the top part, like this.

Just a little bit.

And at the same time you're going to open here, the bottom part, a little bit.

As you can see, if you twist here the model is going to open, like this.

Now, make here a valley fold along this line here.

You're going to do the same thing on all 5 sides.

Like this.

Now, turn the model over and we are going to work here, on thispart.

We just have to fold again, the same way folded before.

So, make here a valley fold.

At the same time, press here, the bottom part making a mountain fold along this line here.

Now, make a valley fold along this line.

And that's it.

We refolded this part.

Now, do the same thing to all the other sides.

So, the model is going to look like this.

Now, you're going to align here, this line with this line.

To do this you're going to hold here this part of the model and this part.

And you're going to pull both sides like this.

Now, you can align this 2 lines.

As you can see, these 2 lines are aligned.

Now, just fold here the inner part and try to fold all the way to inside, like this.

And unfold.

Now, you're going to do the same thing here on all the other layers.

And the model will look like this.

Now, you're going to fold here this ''V'' shaped fold again, the same way we did before.

Just open the layer a little bit.

Press the top side and press the side and it's going to look like this.

Now, the model will look like this.

Now, you're going to make the layers become a cilinder.

And it's going to be like this.

You have to fold here along this line we made before.

Try to adjust all the folds to the correct position.

Now, fold here, one layer.

Along this line here.

It's the last line we made.

Now, hold this 2 layers together and make the same fold along the next layer.

Always, adjust the folds so it doesn't get in the wrong position.

Now, do the same thing here, on the next layer.

again, hold the layers.

And make the next one.

It'll start to get really hard to make it.

You try to force it a little bit.

And to make the last one, you can loosethe layers a little bit.

And adjust all the layers at the same time.

Now, look here, the inner part and adjust all the folds to the correct position.

And press the layers to make the fold stronger.

The model will look like this.

Now, hold the model like this.

And you're going to pull here, one layer upward.

Just so it doesn't get in the way on the next fold.

So, just leave it like this.

Now, on the next layer you're going to fold the tip, like this.

And fold here, the bottom part up to this point here, about this much.

And press the bottom part.

Now, you can release the first layer.

And do the same thing here, on the next layer.

But, now, you won't be able to see the inner lines, so you have to guess the position and it's going to be about this much here.

Now, do the same thing here, on the next layer.

Now, the last layer you're going to do the same thing.

And after you do it you're going to trap the layer inside the first layer.

This one here is the last layer.

Pull the first layer and place it inside the first layer.

And the model will look like this.

Now, you're going to fold this tip here to inside.

And the model is almost done.

Now, you're going to pull this layer.

And fold it to outside, just a little bit.

And keep doing this to all the layers.

Now, do the same thing here, and after your fold all the petals to outside.

The model will look like this.

Now, fold this small tip making a small curve here.

And adjust the middle part just so it has a good shape.

Just use something to pull here the inner part.

And make a nice curve.

And the model will look like this.

Now, press here the middle of the petals.

Just a little bit, just pinch.

To make it have a nice shape.

Also on the bottom layers.

And, that's it! The model is done.

So, making with a better paper and with more patience in the end, the model will look like this.

So, shape the middle part really well.

And try to spread the layers evenly to have a good result.
