Origami Basics: Blintz Base

Origami Basics: Blintz Base

Hey guys, this is Evan from EZ Origami, and today I'll be teaching you how to fold an Origami Blintz Base.

This video will be one of many includedin my new Origami Basics Series.

Whether you are new to origami or are just looking to brush up on the basics, this'll be the perfect series to getyou started.

The Blintz Base is used very commonly in origami.

It can be used to fold models such as thetraditional Sunburst Star or Ilan Garibi's Multipoints Star.

In order to fold your Blintz Base, you will need one square sheet of paper.

If this is your first time, I recommendusing a six inch or larger square with color on one side and white on the other.

And once you've prepared your paper, we're going to start with our square with the white side up.

And we're going to start by folding in halfhorizontally.

So take this bottom edge and fold it up to the top edge.

Align thecorners and the edges, then make your crease.

And then you can unfold.

And now we're going to rotate the paperso that the crease we just made is now held vertically.

And now we're going to make a new horizontal crease just like we did before.

So once again, we're going to take this bottom edge and fold it up to the top edge.

Align the corners and the edges.

Then make your crease, and then unfold.

And now we're going to fold in all fourcorners and align them with this point herewhere these two creases intersect.

So we're going to start with this bottom right corner and we're simply going to fold in and align it with that crease intersection.

So once everything is aligned, then youcan make your crease.

And your model should look like this.

Then you want to rotate the paper so that the corner you just folded in is now over on the left.

And then we're going to do the same thing on this bottom right corner here.

So simply fold the corner in, align itwith that same crease intersection, make your crease, and your model should look like this.

And now we're going to rotate the paper once again and we're going to do the same thing on this bottom right corner here.

So again fold it in, align it with that same creaseintersection, make your crease, and the model should look like this.

Thenwe're going to rotate it one last time and we're going to do the same thing on this bottom right corner here.

So simply fold the bottom right corner in.

Align it with that same crease intersection, and then you can make your crease.

And once you've folded in all four corners, your model should look like this and this is the completedBlintz Base.
