There are many different techniques for papermache, but I'm going to show you one of Elmer's favorites for this video.
Start with a solidobject or an inflated balloon, Elmer's Glue-All, water, cut up newspaper strips, a paintbrush, and paint.
Combine equal amounts of Elmer's Glue-All and water together in a large bowl.
Next, take your solid object or your inflated balloon.
For the first layer only, use wet, unglued newspaper strips and cover the entire area.
I'm going to set this one aside because I've already completed the first layer on thisballoon.
As you can see, I've placed these strips horizontally.
So to help me rememberwhich layer I'm working on, I'm going to place the next layer vertically.
Dip each stripin the glue-and-water mixture and run it between your fingers.
Another technique is to painta thick layer of the glue-and-water mixture on one side of each strip.
Build up four morelayers this way.
Once your layers are complete, let it completelydry.
Remove the balloon and you're ready to paint and decorate however you would like.
I've turned this one into a pinata for my daughter's birthday party.
You can fill itwith candy or toys for the children to enjoy.
